This is a card I made for an online card class I'm participating in. The focus of the class is one layer cards. This lesson demonstrated adding texture with embossing paste.
Weeks ago, I cut a mask and stencil of Umbrella Man from acetate, and the brick stencil from thin chipboard. I gave the brick stencil about four coats of Mod Podge on each side so it would hold up to the moisture from whatever medium I wanted to use.
This card has been stirring around in the back of my head ever since; I finally created it this week.
Lots of masking and stenciling going on - first I stenciled Umbrella Man with VersaMark and heat embossed with clear ep. I love how it intensified the vanilla color of the paper. Next I masked Umbrella Man and the upper portion of the card and applied modeling paste (that I colored with Distress Pumice Stone ink) through the brick stencil. After that dried, I masked the brick And the part of the card that's under the umbrella and sponged metallic blue ink through the raindrop stencil. The sentiment was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black - and is perfect for my area of the country. Life would definitely be good for all the farmers around here, where we desperately need rain!
As always, thanks for looking!

I love this Jody! I would have sworn you stamped umbrella man in a soft color. Who would have guessed versamark on watercolor paper would turn like that? It looks like a shadow and a technique I have to try! A lot went into this and how worth while it was!
